As a tribute to those who lost their lives; as a tribute to the heroes of that day; as a memorial for the families who lost loved
ones; as a memorial for our children and their children so they will never forget what a great country they live in.

I love the twin pier idea and would like to see a sculpture of a cross or Christ before them as they enter into the water.

Just as we can never forget the holocaust, we can never forget the horror or tragedy that occurred on September 11, 2001. I am
all for saving artifacts and creating a museum.
|
I believe we should make the footprints of the WTC into an arboretum. A tree should be planted in honor of each victim with a
plaque bearing the name of each person in front of their tree. Landscaping and other plantings should complete a meandering design with niches for private benches for reflection. Also, family members of the victims
should be given a cutting from their family member's tree to perpetuate it at their own home. I have spoken to many people about what should be done and although no one has come up with an idea, they all feel
strongly that it should not be a cold, stone monument. Those people were not cold, stone structures and the tribute to their lives should be as alive and vibrant as they themselves once were. Of course this
arboretum should be carefully tended and if a tree should die, it should be replaced immediately, preferably with a cutting of the original tree, life goes on, and so should the living tribute to their memories. A
nominal admission fee should be charged to help maintain the site, but family members of the victims should be given a special lifetime pass allowing them permanent free admission.

WTC Memorial Idea; I don't know if anyone is taking ideas. Two reflecting pools of black granite (symbolizing WTC) with the names
of victims engraved in bottom of each pool. A mechanism that will drop a single drop of water into each pool at the minute after the hour that each building fell. This symbolizes the ripples that were felt across
the world. My idea is simple but I had to share it.

We need to make a memorial for the ones who lost their loved ones. They need a place to go, they can't go to a cemetery because
the victims are not there. Only at the WTC is where they are.
|
Sweet smelling flowers, shrubs, trees, ect.... Make a wall will all the victims names engraved in it.

While I can understand the sacredness of those grounds and the need for a memorial by the individuals who lost loved ones and the
nation as the whole, I also feel that the City of New York will need to regain the millions and millions of sq footage of office space lost in the catastrophe. I feel that both these needs can be met in a sensitive
and responsible manner.
|
I really like the idea of the sky line being returned to its original pre 9/11 shape. I think it would really say a lot about our
nation's manifest right and destiny to exist and be a deliberate rasberry to those who would challenge that. I like the idea of a large helical museum, much like the corners of a parking garage or stadium, 5 or 6
stories high joining the towers together. On the outside wall of the walk I can imagine artifacts, portraits, and written narratives telling the story of that day as you walk up. The inside wall could be pexiglass
overlooking the center atrium which would house a scaled hologram of the towers as they stood prior to 9/11. The names of the ones we lost would be engraved into this wall. This hologram would enact the events one
time a year precisely when and as they happened. Upon reaching the roof, visitors would find themselves in a beautiful garden, the new twins towering above, a testament to our ability as a nation and a people to
heal and rebuild. God Bless those who lost loved ones and God Bless America!

Honestly I hadn't given it alot of thought. I stayed up late last night, and watched a show regarding this subject on PBS. The
utter disrespect that some of those people have shown for SACRED GROUND is sickening. Once again everything comes down to the almighty buck. This is an outrage. The WHOLE site should be a MEMORIAL. These people need
a place to grieve. The spirits of the departed need time to move on after such a horrific death.
|
At some point if it is possible move the firehouse as one guy suggested on TV today. Hey, if we built those Towers we can move a
building. Those guys deserve at least that for giving their lives for us. *Also a legal Holiday should be added. If not possible we could utilize another Holiday that we are forced to "celebrate".

Those lives that perished in the WTC should be memorialized and we as Americans need to let the terrorist know we are stronger
and more UNITED.
|
Rebuild the WTC according to the original blueprints, with a few changes: 1. It's stronger, wider and can withstand the impact of
the largest aircraft (government assist in mandating this size) 2. A museum that lists the names, company and floor location of the victims on the main floor along with a historical series of events and artifacts
leading up to the newly rebuilt towers 3. A series of emergency fire exits for floors 20 and up, that would resemble a laundry shoot, near the center of the building, to aid in a faster escape route.

While I think that we need to try and rebuild some sort of structure (probably decades from now) to replace the towers
themselves, I also think it is important that we take the metal from the landfill and make a fitting memorial. While I am relieved that my daughter was too young to understand what was going on that day, I think it
is important for her to someday know everything about 9/11/01, and why that is such a special day, a day to take pride in being an American, and how something that happens hundreds of miles away can feel like it's
the next town away. I want her to understand that there is a big world outside of Montreal, Missouri. I have never been to New York, and I'm saddened that I never saw it before 9/11/01. I would like to visit someday
with my family, and learn as much as I can bout the World Trade Center, as it has always been a very important part of our American history and culture, even more after September 11, 2001.
|
I think a museum, that tells something about every person that lost their life there on that day is a great idea, built right in
front of where the towers once stood. The friends and relatives of them can have a space on the inside walls of the memorial, to tell a little bit about the person that they cared so much for and lost on that day.
The inside can be filled with artifacts, and alot of general information about the Twin towers, and the many businesses housed there.

In one tower "footprint" a statue of a man and in the other a statue of a woman. One holding a child in one arm and the
other holding a flag upraised in one hand and the child holding onto the neck of the adult holding them. All three free hands upraised to touch the wings of an eagle in flight above them. The bases of the statues
could be engraved with the names of the victims.

Because many of these individuals, who are someone's loved ones, were infinitely fused within the ashes, the fallen drywall, and
melted plastic that are burned into the ground at the site.

I read that the people of New York do not want a "super block" anymore. I think a series of several "normal"
block size buildings with a center "key memorial building, tapering into a scraper as tall as the WTC would be nice. I think the "key" building should have a memorial garden running up the center of
the building, encased with glass that would act as the inner wall of those offices surrounding it. Not all the glass in the upper floors should be surrounded by offices. Some of this space should be open for
observation areas. There should be a running water fall, to represent the continual flow of life, despite the loss, and plants from all around the world to represent the nationalities of those who died. I think the
panes of glass surrounding this "memorial garden', should be etched with the names and brief description of each person who died in the WTC. This garden in the key building represents a heart and soul and
should contain pieces from the original WTC, and as much earth and organic materials as possible from the site in the garden. The building around the memorial garden represents the continuing, non faltering spirit
of American freedom, and our undying will to keep carrying on, despite our great loss. The structure is a "spit" in the eye of those who wish us harm, as it allows for respect for the dead, memoriam for
the family and public, and the continuance of the great American dream, " Success in Capitalism.

This was a great tragedy and to just discard everything and build a new skyscraper would mean to me that we forgot. The people
that died that day were brave, innocent souls, who did not deserve the fate that was thrown at them. We need to always remember who those people were and what they stood for... Hard working Americans. We need to
honor their families memories of them.
|
I think we should allow the families to decide what to do, and add their own little part to it.

We are a nation of hope, of pride, of resolve. We will remember and we will build a place of worship, love, and understanding. A
place to remember all the lives lost and a place to teach and learn of all religions and ideas. If we do not take from this tragedy education and learning , acceptance and healing, and most of all playing it forward
for future generations, so that they will learn and teach, then what was such a grave loss to endure for the future?
|
Two pillars of white that reach the sky, with names of all who cared and died. A stone of black marble, set in between,
displaying heroes for all to be seen. Row upon row of flowers and walkways, gives hope to the souls who feel left astray. The small shop has returned, and faces unyurn, to see we still thrive and time still moves
by. An open air market of art from the world; music is played; the children will learn. Of utmost importance, of all that is said; up top of each pillar, a place to be led. Through the center of white, a pilgrimage
of hope; for all those who come, to love and to cope. Upon your arrival at the top of the sky, you look out to see New York is alive! All around are books of old and of new, the Koran, the bible to name just a few.
Budda, muslim, christian, abound; learning is knowledge; take this and be found. America is red, white, and, blue; but hast we forget the yellow and maroon. Take this vision and pass it around, we will not forget,
we will rebuild this town!!!

The many families who never had a funeral for their loved ones, or for the many that were never found. Ground Zero is there
resting place, it is where they breathed their last breath. So that is their and was their funeral. so leave for the families to have some where to lay flowers and mourn for their loved ones.

I feel that it is important to build a memorial in honor of all the lost lives. If we don't build something in remembrance, how
long will it be until something with no significance to 09/11/01 is built?! A memorial will ensure that that day is always remembered, even 100 years from now.
|
I think it should be something with pictures and the names of all who died. It should be kind of like a museum. That way, years
from now, people who didn't experience the tragedy can go and learn about it first hand.

On the foundations of the both towers I would create two identical squares with in the centre an eternal flame with the names of
those who were killed in the towers on that day. Also I feel that every day at the time both towers went down the national anthem should be played.

After watching the services this morning at ground zero (9/11/02)I thought a fitting memorial would be to take the world trade
center "foot print" (the circle) and make it into a reflecting pool with either the victims names within the pool itself or around the reflecting pool or possibly an image of the towers somehow reflecting
in the pool

I FEEL THAT THE SITE OF THE WTC SHOULD NOT BE REBUILT ON. IT IS A SACRED PLACE NOW. LIKE MANY PEOPLE, WHEN A LOVED ONE DIES WE
WILL AT SOME POINT GO TO THEIR RESTING PLACE TO VISIT. THE FAMILIES AND FRIENDS OF THE VICTIMS FROM 9-11-01 NEED A PLACE TO GO TO REMEMBER, TO TALK, OR TO FEEL THOSE PEOPLE. MANY WERE NOT ABLE TO GET CLOSURE. EITHER
THEIR LOVED ONES WERE NOT FOUND OR HAD PERISHED. GIVE THEM THIS PARK AS THEIR CLOSURE.

Out of respect to those that died, and their families. We can't feel their pain like they do, but we can care and want to help.

I think, to build a house of many religions, would be a fitting memorial for all that perished on the 9th September 2001. It's
design would include the architecture of many religious buildings, inside, each religion would be segregated into different areas for prayer and service. Wouldn't it be lovely to have a house of prayer, of many
different beliefs all praying side by side under one roof. For those that don't believe in a God, there could also be a small garden outside that could represent the celebration of life. And of course for all those
that died, they would have a more of a personal memorial, like their names written on a plaque as you walk through the gates, reminding us all of why it was built in the first place. The World Trade Center,
represented and united all countries round the world, I think we should keep it like that, by building a building that would do the same again, but not by power, money or wealth, but by hope, belief and love. There
have been too many wars around the world because of people's different beliefs, maybe a building like this could represent the unity that America stands for.
