Dear WORLD-MEMORIAL,
II have been thinking about this a lot lately. In order to preserve the skyline of lower Manhattan, but maintain the solemnity of the area, my
thought was to build a single tower, cylindrical in shape. It would be topped with a flame shaped light.
Basically a single, eternally burning candle, built in the footprint of one of the towers. The
ground level of the tower would be faced in marble with the names of those who gave their lives etched in it, similar to the Vietnam memorial in Washington.
That was my thought on it.
The candle tower as a structure to reinstate the skyline, but as a memorial so as not to lose the solemnity of the area. Thanks.
